PKB Reflection

When it came to developing my own Personal Knowledge Base (PKB), I can honestly say I couldn’t stand it. I’m a pretty stubborn person so once it came to changing the way I had been organizing my work, it tended to frustrate me. However, overtime I can say that I’ve now realized how superior and more efficient Evernote is compared to my previous method. I used Evernote to save all of my pieces of work in EDC 102H, save articles I’ve needed to find as well as articles Professor Fogleman posted. This way it made it easy to access anything I needed to when it would come up in the middle of class. It actually made me feel kind of spoiled since none of my friends know this method of organizing your work (yet). Also, as I became more comfortable with Evernote, I began saving pieces of work in my other classes this year, and saving most of the important papers I wrote as a freshman. So, many of the papers that I saved include classes such as WRT 106, NUR 103, NUR 203, and Human Physiology and Anatomy. This will definitely help me in the future since I will have easy access to search and find pieces of information that relate to future work that I’ve already written about before. So, instead of searching all of my word documents to find something, I can type in one word and have the paper/article I need to see.

Originally, I saved all of my work in different folders which were classified by the classes which were then classified into different years. I had a total of over 15 folders, and as organized as I thought I was, it’s still not as convenient and useful as Evernote. Truth be told, my college experience has already transformed into being more organized due to the evolution of my PKB. I can sense that my future at University of Rhode Island will be full of more convenience than I ever thought before.
